As a result of recent terrorist threats, natural disasters and unfortunately the increasing rate of missing victims of crime including children, the team has identified the need for specialist search dogs.

The dog section is currently involved in three areas. Our main areas of work include the following;

a) Our new K9 Water Search Project. This involves training dogs and handlers to search on and around water. To find out more click here.

b) Collapsed building and confined space work consisting of 3 terriers along with 5 qualified handlers able to work either dog. This is the only project worldwide to utilise the qualities of terriers for this type of work.

c) We have a qualified human remains / cadaver detection team consisting of 4 dogs and 4 handlers. We're the only specialised team in Wales to be able to carry out this type of work. To find out more about this project, click here.

Running on the back of the K9 Water Search Project, GRS has started to develop a Water Incident Unit. Read the full details here.

With the specialities within GRS, we have a capability of deploying abroad to search for missing people. Whether the missing person is a British Citizen or a member of the local population, we can be contacted for advice or support. Please contact our Team Leader.
